Aveling Tractor

Vanguard

owned by R. J. Houghton

Reg. MA 7892 No. 3199

built by Aveling & Porter, in 1893.

Supplied new to Middleton Corporation as a road roller

Purchased and rebuilt in 1923 by Charles Price & Sons, Broadheath, Manchester

Remained in their ownership until World War II, when it was used in Lincolnshire to roll an airbase runway.

Following this, it was placed in Nicolson's scrap yard, also in Lincolnshire.

Suffering severe damage and dereliction it was rescued in 1992 and rebuilt into it's present form.

Passing through the hands of two more owners, until being purchased by the present owner in 2003.

Lots of work and time has been spent in recent years bringing the engine to it's present condition.
